MEET Fru Nkimbeng
My name is Fru Nde Nkimbeng. Like most Americans, I was born on other shores. I was born in a city in Africa called Bamenda. My beloved parents died in an accident when I was only 7 years old and God became my guardian angel. Anyone who knows Lowell City Hall very well would know Bamenda. Lowell and Bamenda are Sister Cities. The two historic cities have been Sister Cities since Nov. 5, 2002.
Lowell is the City that welcomed me when I first arrived the United States in 1985. The hospitality and friendliness of Lowellians immediately made me feel at home in Lowell. I enrolled at UMass Lowell and obtained a degree in Economics with a minor in Computer Information Systems. I earned a Master’s of science in Computer Information Systems from Rivier University in Nashua.
After acquiring a good education at my hometown college, the next step in my life was to get married and start a family. My marriage was blessed with four lovely children. All four went on to start and complete grade school in Lowell. Living, studying, growing up and working in Lowell, I learned that to whom much is given much is expected. Lowell gave me an opportunity to acquire a good education. It also enabled me to start my family.

With this much that Lowell gave me, I now thought that it was time for me to start giving back. I started out by volunteering my time to work for local nonprofits and government organisations. Volunteering gave me an opportunity to meet with a great many wonderful Lowellians. Some of them became my mentors. Before long, I was also serving as mentor to others.
My decision to enter the race for City Council was partly driven by my mentees. Many of them advised me to run. What my mentees saw in me, I hope my fellow residents in District 7 are going to see it too. Just as I have stood up to my mentees in the local nonprofits and government organisations that I have worked for, I am hoping to stand up for District 7 residents for:
Economic Revitalisation
Community Wellbeing and security
Education and After School Programs
Information Technology infrastructure and data security.
Lowell needs to move forward; and yes, with your vote, we can all move Lowell forward.
May I in advance thank you for your vote.
